Knives are all fine and dandy for some situations but overall I believe guns get the job done! Having spent most of my life and my childhood in Alabama, I had never had to conceal carry my weapons before I moved to Texas. Open carrying was a way of life, and a liberating one at that, so you could imagine my disappointment when I realized that most of my gun collection would not be grounds for carrying around Texas. Now, I’m a big guy, so generally speaking I definitely favor big guns – LMG’s, assault rifles, shotguns, you name it I own it. But for the purposes of my own self-defense, I knew I’d have to find a gun that I could realistically and practically concealed carry wherever I needed to go. I do own some handguns, but they’re more in the revolver, magnum category – not exactly ideal for concealed carry purposes despite their handgun classification. I began asking my friends for their opinion and doing some of my own research on the internet before I finally stumbled upon the Glock 26, also known as the Baby Glock.
Why I Chose The Glock 26
Featuring a compact design that measure just about six and one-third inches in length, the Glock 26 is a double -action 9mm handgun that packs a lot of punch in a small package. I knew that I would have to compromise to some extent when it came to firepower when I began looking for a weapon that I would conceal, but I didn’t want to lose too much in that department – when the time comes, I still have to know that my gun can blow the bad guys away, ‘Merica style. I’m happy to report that the Glock 26 does just fine by way of shooting – a powerful little gun, deceptively impactful with a clean and aesthetic design, I couldn’t be happier with it.
The Glock 26 is impressive in a number of ways – I can carry a flush mag and have 10 rounds, and one in the chamber, not carry a spare mag and still have more ammo than some of the Glock 26’s comparably sized competitors. Additionally, there’s just something comforting and familiar about owning and operating a Glock weapon – all gun enthusiasts know that Glock means quality and that’s peace of mind you won’t find in many other places. The holster fits just great on the back of my pants and works like a dream – no one would know I’m carrying, but it still remains perfectly accessible to me at a moment’s notice. Gunivore.com is a gun blog that has amazing reviews of all the 26 and all its Glock older siblings.
As far as accuracy, I took the Glock out to the range the other day and couldn’t believe how true the aim was. I set up three bullseyes at 50-yards and basically didn’t misfire on a single one of them, which is remarkable for a handgun of this size, even when considering it was an expert marksman in myself who was firing. Overall, I just don’t have enough good things to say about the Glock. It has enhanced my life in every way, hell even my wife is happy now that I’m the proud owner of a Glock 26. Couldn’t be happier with it!
